Meditteranean climate is dominating in the island. Summers are long and dry, winters are short and rainy. Winters are mild. The average temperature is 7-15 C in the coldest month and 21-38 C in the hottest month. The amount of rain is below the average amount peculiar to typical Meditteranean climates. Rarely, it snows over the Kyrenia (Girit) Mountains, but it melts in a short time.
