On
the island, there are two mountainchains which are the extensions of the
Toros Mountainchains in Turkey; Kyrenia (Girne) Mountainchains and Toros
Mountains. The east part of the lowland between these two mountainchains
is known as
“Icova” (the Pleteau of Mesarya) and the west part is the
“Guzelyurt” Plateau. The highest hill in the region that belongs to
the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is “Selvili Tepe” which is
1023 m high. There are two gulfs, Guzelyurt Gulf in the north and
Famagusta (Gazimagosa) Gulf in the east. Cape Zafer, Cape Korucam and Cape
Kasa are the three capes of the region.
