Of the three castles on top of Kyrenia Mountainchains, this is the one which is on the eastern end. It is on a location where the Meseria Plateau and Karpas Peninsula can be observed. Although it is estimated that the castle is built by Byzantines, The Kantara Castle was built so that it would adapt the land. Owing to the situation that there are steep rocks which do not allow transportation, the entrance is on the east side and a strong triple defence system is applied for the castle.
