| It was an old centre of population on the coastline between Alsancak and
Lapta. It was founded by Phoenicians between 1000-709 B.C. ıt was named
as “Lambousa” in Roman and Byzantium times and this was its most
glorious times. In 1902, many golden and silver goods were found here and
these are called “The Treasures of Lambousa”. It is understood
according to the findings that people left the city in a hurry, thinking
that they would come back soon, but that they could not return since the
siege could not be raised.
